Hothouse Part ll - Greenhouse.
When does ground turn into building? How can something controlled, strict and systematic mediate a feeling of organic and homogenous flow? How can one manifest the functionalism of the conventional man made greenhouse and still not compromise with the beauty of nature itself?
Our present industrialized greenhouses are evident. They distinctly stand out from nature with adjacent systematic fields, harvested forests and synthetic growing systems. They give us control of nature at the costs of nature.
The aim of this project is to create an industrialized large size greenhouse that appears as, functions as and follows its natural environment. The goal is to shape it, place it and use it as if it belonged to nature, still with all the benefits of a conventional modern greenhouse.
The project uses scale, repetition and density to imitate the properties of the surrounding forrest. The greenhouse constantly follows the variegated and uneven ground, creating cavities in some places and hovering above in others. The space grid reaches for the tree tops, blending in with its surroundings. The project will also expand over time, reproducing itself similarly to the crops that grow within it.
